Come and See What's New in the Shop!

Cheryl has been really busy in the shop making changes and adding new items. The spring things are beginning to come in and that little touch of spring color is bringing the shop new life. Tom built some new shelving behind the cash desk and now its much easier to manuever and use the computer. Cheryl has moved the clothing and everything else to give the shop a brand new look.
Newer yet are the two fur-babies that have taken up residency inside Sow-a-Seed/Prior Attire. Meet Tara (right ) and Scooter (left). They are two of Walnut's Finest Ferals that have been living in the courtyard. Tara is Scooter's mama, but he is quickly growing much bigger than she is, the manly tom that he is! Very slowly Tom and Cheryl have tamed these two and when winter became so bitter cold, it was only a matter of time before they migrated indoors.
So next time you are in the shop, you may get a glimpse if you look around real quick. They hide from strangers but if you get to know them, you will fall in love with them just like we did!

Well, I guess the flyer about tells it all, but we are about to embark on the first ever Occasional Sale in Walnut.
Its been exciting to see it all take shape. This flyer ad is the bomb! Created by Susan Meyer Prince using a photo by Pam Witt, makes this really cool. And yes, the kitty is real. It's my little Tara, who lives in my shop's courtyard.
Now our sale must live up to the challenge!
Cheryl, Kathy and Pam have been scanning our areas for the most unusual and interesting of vintage items and beyond.
Come expecting unique things...bring your friends.
Sale starts at 10am sharp...NOT before...
Will be held on the lawn of the previous Antique City Bed and Breakfast, a 99 year old home!
No HINTS on whats available, only that there will be a little of everything!
SALE IS ONE DAY ONLY!!!
Then we will begin collecting for our spring Vintage Market Affaire' !

Things are Hoppin'

This Wall shows two new pictures I got at an auction several weeks back...the wall sconces with the pink and blue rimmed plates were made by Kathy Humann and are to die for cute!
These lantern globe lights were old and dusty. I had them rewired and they are gorgeous!

What to do with those old pillow cases? Combine them to make these cute little tote bags. Totally retro and recycled...or is it upcycled? Made (again) by Kathy Humann

Cheryl and I just got back from Atlantic where the Thrift Store was having a half price sale....be on the lookout for some new and really unique items in the shop. We sort of went nuts (nothing new for us)! We actually discussed how this obsession might be a kind of disease. At least we are buying the stuff and then selling it again, so at least we cant be considered hoarders! Can we? Here are just a few things Ive put in the store the last few weeks. If you havent been in lately you should come and see for yourself!

Micky Mouse Mugs in Etsy Shop

Piano Music Box play "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"!
In Etsy Shop!

Kathy has been busy listing new items in the Etsy shop, so be sure to go over there and take a look. The shop is clearing out most of the "kid stuff" since Christmas is over, so its being featured online. Check it out!
Cheryl is still busy trying to dig out from all the snow in the courtyard. She worked all weekend getting the Christmas decor down and attempting to get new things ready for her loyal customers that visit her in Walnut! Come see the new offerings!

A Day not Fit for Man nor Beast...but we ventured out anyway!

This is the view from Kathy's front porch!

Our nicely shoveled walkways were drifted in pretty good.

The shop was a breath of fresh air..chilly air, but fresh!

Cute new things in the shop!

Of course we love kitties!

The winter of 2009/2010 has been horrid. Enough is enough already! We experienced another snow storm on Monday and Tuesday of this week. By Thursday both Cheryl and I were going crazy inside and decided we MUST get to the shop and do some work. Cheryl worked on pricing many new items to be offered in the shop and I worked on pulling, photoing and documenting items for our Etsy shop.
Be sure to visit the online shop to see our new offerings. You'll find vintage hats, childrens items and some more metal trays...
And as soon as Tom gets home and gets down to clear out the courtyard, we will be watching for you to come see us in Walnut!

Vintage Jewelry!

Vintage Jewelry In Walnut Iowa !

Who doesnt like the look and feel of vintage jewelry??? At Sow-a-Seed/Prior Attire there is a whole case full! Just like old quilts, jewelry choices are very personal and tell a story. Come pick out a good one for your winter coat or all those wooly sweaters you will soon be wearing!

SASPA TIP OF THE DAY!

Cleaning your own jewelry is as simple as white vinegar and water! Mix equal amounts of both and soak for just a few minutes! Use a soft cloth or brush to shine. You dont need to spend tight dollars on jewelry cleaner any more. Common household vinegar will do the trick. Treat your vintage jewelry carefully. It is most likely costume and NOT real gold or silver, so treat it with TLC and you will be happy partners for a long time!
